Ricochet Duo

Pianist Rose Chancler and marimbist Jane Boxall joined forces to form Ricochet Duo in 2008 after Rose advertised on Craigslist, "seeking classical musicians for collaboration." Jane, a UK expat, was living in Illinois but planning a move to Vermont. The two began their collaboration with a concert on Rose’s Piano by Nature series in upstate New York, and have since been actively performing throughout the United States. Ricochet Duo has performed at Indiana University Pennsylvania, Vermont’s Flynn Center for the Performing Arts, the Chautauqua Institution, Augsburg College, Eastman School of Music, State University of New York and the historic Hand House in Elizabethtown, NY.

Ricochet Duo is dedicated to celebrating the music of the 21st century and actively promotes the works of living composers. In 2009, the duo was awarded a New York Women Composer's grant and performed three new works from female composers Rain Worthington, Joelle Wallach and Faye-Ellen Silverman. The duo has also cultivated a working relationship with composer Marc Mellits, performing his ‘Tight Sweater Remix’ and ‘Postcards of Dreadlock.’

Ricochet Duo has crafted multiple programs over the course of their collaboration, ranging from a program of music by women composers to a broad-ranging selection of ragtime and tango music featuring works by Stravinsky, Piazzolla, Milhaud and George Hamilton Green alongside the new composition ‘El Punto,’ written for Ricochet Duo by Argentine composer Lucas Guinot. In 2012, Ricochet Duo is working on recording a full album of dance music.
